What does 400 ppm mean for critical scholarship? Is this an impetus for change, a political turning point, or an arbitrary measurement? I think its time to think seriously and critically about climate change, our energy consumption habits, and the capitalist-state system which cannot address these issues adequately because to do so would mean systemic, undermining actions. So radical and critical scholarship needs to deal with these environmental problems because they are rooted in social and political issues, and its not just the task of scientists and engineers to think solutions to energy/climate/civilization concerns.
